Celebrate Black Teachers and Students

This project is part of the Black History Month celebration because it supports a Black teacher or a school where the majority of the students are Black.

My Project

As a second-year teacher, I am learning along with my students each day. As an individual who invests in my own mental health, I realize the importance. My goal is to provide my students with resources they may otherwise not have access to. It is my experience that my class runs smoother when students have a clear understanding and knowledge of how to identify their emotions and channel them. Children's books like those in my project allow students to learn about various challenges and provide them with relatable and engaging stories.

As a new teacher, I am in the process of building my toolbox and furthering my knowledge.

This project provides me with materials to read and learn from and stories to read to my students during our classroom circle each morning. This has been the most successful form of classroom management because I am open with my students about why I do the things I do. They see the importance and buy into our classroom community.
