Help me give my students these are materials to set up a first year teacher, sixth grade teacher in their classroom. It is my understanding the funds can be used for the teachers benefits such as the microwave.
I am a little confused about this process but allow me to explain that I am mentor teacher in the Virginia Commonwealth University RTR Teach for Change program.
This program places a resident teacher with a mentor for the entire year.
We were told we would receive $500 to be used any way we desired for the benefit of our classroom. I elected to have my resident teacher spend the entire amount to help him set up his classroom for next year. Having the creature comforts is important for teachers who typically get 10-15 minutes to eat their lunch in their classroom (thus the microwave).
The other items are things he saw around my classroom which I have already purchased for myself. I was under the impression this was preapproved and what we were supposed to be doing.
