This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.

My Project

Our classroom has been so fortunate to receive many high-quality books over the last two years from generous donors. Unfortunately, our bookshelf recently fell apart. The bookshelf came with the classroom, so it is at least 12 years old. Despite my best efforts to fix it at home, it wasn't built for repair.

This DonorsChoose is for a new, sturdy bookshelf that will hopefully last for many years to come.

I keep a selection of books on a book shelf in front of my desk for students to look at if they finish early. Books include non-fiction animal encyclopedias where students can learn more about the animals we study in class. I also feature a selection of the books we read aloud together so that students can read them to themselves.

This bookshelf will also allow more books to be displayed (slightly bigger than the previous one). Its design allows students to independently and more effectively put the books away when they are done. Most importantly, if fits the footprint of an already small classroom.
