My Project

I am seeking support to acquire books that will have a direct and positive impact on our students by empowering educators to implement culturally sustaining pedagogy through translanguaging. Translanguaging is a dynamic linguistic practice that allows individuals to fluidly use multiple languages, leveraging their entire linguistic repertoire to communicate and create meaning. This approach is crucial in legitimizing students' home languages and challenging the monolingual and monocultural norms, enabling students to authentically express their identities through their complete linguistic abilities.

Too often, educators impose the expectation that students should exclusively use English.

This raises the question - why prioritize English acquisition over the understanding of academic content? I want my students to know that their native language is a valuable resource, not a hindrance. By embracing translanguaging, we can foster an inclusive environment that celebrates linguistic diversity, aligning with the latest education research.
