Help me give my students 1 CD player and 3 books with CD to listen to a story without the teacher reading the stories. My Pre-K students can be introduced to stories that might be challenging to read.
This project is part of the Black History Month celebration because it supports a Black teacher or a school where the majority of the students are Black.
My Project
We will use the CD player with read along books with CDs to hear the stories using headphones to prevent distractions. Audio storytelling introduces pre-readers and developing readers to the magical world of narrative long before they can read for themselves.
Listening to and sharing stories is key to improving a child's early language and literacy.
Reading to pre-schoolers has been found to be related to language growth, emergent literacy and reading achievement.
In addition, reading to children also stimulates them to read books themselves and further develop their cognitive skills.
Listening to other people speaking enables children to develop vocabulary, comprehension and language skills. These important communication skills are the building bricks of literacy and learning.
My students are special because they are eager to learn and listen to the stories the teacher read or the audiobooks read to them.
