My Project

Literacy and phonics skills are a key component to any first grade curriculum. This is no different in our first grade classroom. We put a lot of emphasis on the important teaching and learning goals of an English Language Arts curriculum.

We have recently found that our first graders are lacking a rounded knowledge of sight/heart words.

In order to combat this weakness in our learning, we want to establish a set of creative and entertaining sight word centers for students to take part in. In order to do this though, many key supplies are needed, including items such as transparent counters, a new set of dry erase markers, or even LEGOs for kinesthetic word building.

With your generosity we can build up our students' heart word knowledge and increase reading abilities this year and for many first grade classes to come!
