Celebrate Black Teachers and Students

This project is part of the Black History Month celebration because it supports a Black teacher or a school where the majority of the students are Black.

My Project

Instruments, singing, composing...these are essential components of music making, but one other cornerstone of a well-rounded music education is movement! I currently have several instruments my 5th graders use on a daily basis, but I have very few materials or props for movement and dance.

Materials specifically designed for movement with music will greatly elevate my students' music education experience.

My students are wonderful, and they are high energy; this is far from a negative thing, but students definitely need structured paths to channel and manage this energy, and movement is a great way to do this.

Students absolutely love being able to express themselves through movement and dance, and giving them this opportunity to do so in safe, structured, and fun ways will greatly increase engagement and participation.
