My Project

My middle school students often miss out on reading during school-wide silent reading time because in our music classroom, we don't have a reading library.

I want to provide students with a variety of books that focus on music, but also on other topics to catch their interest and that represent the diverse population of our students.

Many students in our school are at a large deficit in their reading skills. Silent reading is a known way to improve their reading skills, even in a music class. Most of the classrooms in our school have classroom libraries, but our music rooms haven't needed them in the past. Now we could really use these books for our students!
