This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because
it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.
Every year at our high school, the last 1.5 weeks of the school year are spent taking students on trips to expose students to a world of new experiences and build relationships within our school community. Students frequently refer to this as their favorite time of year. During the last several years, there has been no overnight post session that was not camping. We would like to do something less traditional- we would like to take 20 seniors for two nights and three days to live together in Santa Rosa and explore art and cooking. A family has kindly donated their house to us so we just need materials for art projects.We are planning on Ceramics, Jewelry making, Tie Dye, Embroidery, and more!
At our high school, because we are a small school, we don’t have art classes so this is our opportunity to introduce students to art and creative projects!
It is also an opportunity to talk with our Seniors about their futures. Answer their questions and prepare them to be successful. It's also an opportunity to just have a lot of fun!
