Celebrating Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month
This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because
it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.
My fifth graders have recently expressed an interest in learning how to crochet, and they have gone wild with excitement in their quest to learn this new craft!
Our Comets Crochet Crew began meeting during lunch a few weeks ago, and we have had such an overwhelming response, we are in need of additional resources!
Thirty students have shown up to learn the craft of crocheting, and everyone is welcome regardless of their experience. Students were given a crochet hook, yarn, and a bag to carry their supplies in, as well as a Comets Crochet Crew QR code, which includes several links to tutorial videos for beginner projects. When students complete one of these projects, I wish to offer them more advanced projects.
I am requesting additional crochet hooks and yarn, as well as beginner kits to make crochet animals such as pandas, frogs, hedgehogs, and bunnies to offer challenges to more ambitious students.
