Celebrate Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month

This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.

My Project

Creating a makerspace equipped with manipulatives (i.e. Legos and building blocks) and basic classroom tools (i.e. scissors, paper and coloring utensils) is essential for fostering a dynamic and effective learning environment , especially in science. These materials serve as versatile tools that stimulate creativity, collaboration, and critical thinking.

Since many of our students are hands-on learners, building blocks and LEGOS encourage more 3D exploration and experimentation.

These activities promote the application of the scientific method through trials and errors. Students will naturally encounter challenges that prompt problem-solving skills which is crucial in scientific inquiry.

Drawing and crafting models facilitate the articulation of concepts, which supports the development of communication skills. Thus, crayons, coloring pencils, paper, and markers are important. They can use these materials to brainstorm, illustrate, and refine ideas.

By incorporating these materials into a makerspace, educators can create a dynamic learning environment that transcends traditional classroom boundaries. The hands-on experience not only makes science more engaging but also cultivates skills that extends to engineering and technology. Possibilities are endless.
