This project is part of the Black History Month celebration because it supports a Black teacher or a school where the majority of the students are Black.

My Project

As a math teacher, you would not automatically think that a reading nook would be necessary. However, I firmly believe that inviting and encouraging literacy or reading across all content areas are an absolute necessity. I want my students to have space they can read in or sit comfortably during independent work time. Having the supplies to create this reading nook with allow my students the autonomy to select seating outside of a desk that may help their focus and determination to complete assignments or to escape for a moment of the day in a story offered in class. My students are my absolute love and passion so making sure I create safe spaces for them with them in mind is very important to me.
