My Project

I teach biology to about 110 students in 9th and 10th grades, at a high-need urban school where funding is limited. As a new teacher in this school, I'm trying to create a space in my classroom where science comes to life and where students feel welcomed and engaged.

I'm just getting started outfitting my classroom with things we need.

From the beginning, I've wished for a skeleton for demonstrating things on the human body, and whiteboards for each student so that they can show each other and me what they're thinking when we do examples in class.

As we start out unit on ecology, climate, and nutrient cycling, I now more than ever need whiteboards for each student, and a classroom worm bin that we can use for exploring how decomposition works as a class.
