My Project

Awareness is such a crucial concept when educating my environmental science students...making sure others know about prevalent issues in the environment has been a key factor in public habit as well as the legislation our country has made to mitigate our carbon footprint, to a degree. Air is the most precious resource we have, and my students are ready to answer the call!

Putting students in the role of activist really helps my kids connect their passion for the environment with their learning!

Our theme is NYC Air Quality, and students will be researching, and drawing awareness to the Big Apple's big problem. Students will explore recent legislature banning certain pizza ovens and car idling, they will measure particulate matter pollution in the neighborhood, and then use their knowledge to inform others with visual media.

Students will use posterboard and markers, to write slogans, draw diagrams, create poems and use written expression to widen their audience. Student will use eye-catching sunbursts, washi tape and decals to make our posters look polished and dazzling. Not only will these students practice multiple subject areas during this project, but they will also engage in service learning by increasing awareness.
