This project is part of the Black History Month celebration because it supports a Black teacher or a school where the majority of the students are Black.
My Project
I enjoy taking my students out in nature to explore the environment around us. While we're out, the students see so many living insects and plants. The students sometimes collect items and insects and would like to bring them back to the classroom to observe in our Discovery Center. Of course, the students ask to bring bugs in and sometimes we have to decline because not all bugs belong in a classroom with 18 silly students.
These caterpillars will have a home to which they can grow and spark curiosity to those around them.
My goal for this project is to give my students hands on materials that they can observe daily, and put all the teaching and learning together as we care for these insects while watching them grow.
