Celebrate Black Teachers and Students

This project is part of the Black History Month celebration because it supports a Black teacher or a school where the majority of the students are Black.

My Project

I'm excited to teach a wonderful group of third-grade students! They love to learn and explore the world around them. This is a big year, with state testing, starting multiplication and fractions, and taking their reading skills to the next level. The cost of school can be challenging for some families financially, so I'd like to make sure that every student in my class has a snack for snack time.

At snack time, some students don't have a snack that helps them stay focused throughout the day.

I try to get snacks for students when I can, but the cost adds up very quickly. This creates an equity issue in class, with some students being able to refuel with a quick snack, while others are going without. I've included many favorites, such as chips, applesauce, and goldfish, and included water bottles as a healthy option to drink. I'd love to have snacks so everyone can have something they like, and be ready to focus on learning.
