Mrs. Robinson from Columbia SC is requesting professional development through DonorsChoose, the most trusted classroom funding site for teachers.
I need to elevate my capacity to teach my students, educators, and school communities the tools to integrate mindfulness and SEL learning, and mindfulness into the classroom and personal well-being practices!

As an Educator, mindfulness and social-emotional learning is part of the foundation of my classroom. I believe in teaching the whole child as well as being my whole self. This year has been one of the more challenging years as my class is comprised mostly of students who were born or in the early developments of the COVID era. Social-emotional skills were limited as everyone sheltered in place. This is many of my student's first time being in school and being around other children.
Trauma and trauma responses are not new for our students as I teach in a high-needs, underserved community.
Breathe For Change is on a mission to enhance the collective well-being of educators, students, and entire communities. The trainings equip educators and changemakers with social-emotional learning strategies, mindfulness tools, and yoga practices that support educator well-being and transform school communities.
As I integrate these tools and principles, and become a certified Yoga Instructor and SEL/Mindfulness Facilitator after the virtual training, I believe that I will be able to provide a safe and brave classroom that enhances the whole child, not just academics-focused. I believe that nourishing and tending to the needs of the child on every level supports academic achievement and educator resiliency.
