My Project

This year my curriculum had me cover a unit on the Holocaust. In this unit, we read excerpts of different books written by victims and also examined the play of Anne Frank’s Diary. We covered excerpts from Night by Elie Wiesel and Maus I by Art Spiegelman. Not only did we talk about the different perspectives these authors had on the atrocious events surrounding the Holocaust, but we also examined how they compared to Anne Frank’s account of what happened.

Because our curriculum is digital, it was not easy piecing together Spiegelman’s story through our curriculum-provided excerpts.

I ended up printing off more pages than I would care to admit in order to give my students a better picture of what was happening in the novel.

If I could get physical copies of Maus I, not only would I more easily access essential materials for this unit, but we also might have the option to read the entire book rather than the pieces I could find in our digital curriculum.
