This project is part of the Black History Month celebration because it supports a Black teacher or a school where the majority of the students are Black.
My Project
Enjoying time outdoors year-round provides learning experiences that encourage self-discovery, communication, self-confidence and independence for all children, including children with Autism Spectrum Disorder (ASD).
It can be challenging to keep non-verbal 3 and 4 year old's with ASD together in one place.
Outdoors it can be especially difficult ensuring their safety and whereabouts, which is why my class does not have the option to enjoy field trips to the park or zoo, currently (do to safety concerns).
With this stroller we can ensure that students are safely, together, in one place, while enjoying fresh air and having the opportunity to learn and explore in new and different environments, while targeting some of their individual goals in a more open and social space where they can interact with others.
This stroller will allow my Pre-K students (ages 3 & 4) with Autism to have a sense of inclusion and the opportunity to be able to enjoy days of learning and exploring outside of the classroom safely, just like other children their age.
With your donation and the support and safety of this stroller, my students will be allowed the same benefits and opportunities as their able-bodied peers.
