This project is part of the Black History Month celebration because it supports a Black teacher or a school where the majority of the students are Black.
My Project
As a teacher in a low-income school, my students are faced with many challenges both in and out of the classroom. Even though they face these challenges, I want to set each and every student up for success.
During the year, I have anywhere between twenty-eight and thirty-two amazing students in my classroom that deserve the best learning environment they can get.
Each and every student deserves the chance to show their abilities to be the best student that they can be.
In the world that we live in students need to learn how to use technology. The Sphero Indi is the starting place for students to learn basic coding. This particular device will allow all students whether they are brand new to our country and just learning English, to my lower level readers, to my high achievers learn how to begin coding. This particular device can be used for strategizing how to get from point A to point B in the most efficient way. Including some activities where they need to measure or create shapes. The opportunities are endless in how I can incorporate this into math and even ELA. (Imagine an obstacle course where they have reading tasks to complete to get to the next position.)
DonorsChoose is the most trusted classroom funding site for teachers.
As a teacher-founded nonprofit, we're trusted by thousands of teachers and supporters across the country. This classroom request for funding was created by Ms. Afande and reviewed by the DonorsChoose team.
