My Project

My kids are very aware of the issues that our planet is facing, but they do not yet know how to address issues of trash disposal. They are builders and innovators, but they lack a base of knowledge that can help them to tackle some of the issues that are causing harm to our one planet. Our school is getting greener every day (solar panels, recycling, etc), but has no school-based compost system. This grant will help to teach my class, and those to come in the upcoming years, how to address food scraps and composting. I have several resources available to teach the basics of composting, and these in this grant will complete the unit. We will use our worm farm for class snack scrap disposal, and the larger units for school-wide composting. My goal is to inspire a wider-reaching composting project with the school, eventually. This will be our leg up!
