I have such a great group of students, and we have learned so much this year through trial and error. We've been able to see what works and what needs to be improved upon.
Through this process, I've learned that we need more manipulatives and learning resources to not only keep our learning more structured and organized, but also to give us more center options available each day.
I would like to provide my students with more word reading manipulatives for building words and sentences, trays and magnetic wands to help keep resources in one place and not lost, and practice books to help with math fact fluency. The base ten magnets will help us understand place value, adding and subtracting by ten, and counting. I would also like to keep my centers color-coded so that all materials match the color of the center. Having a timer for each center would allow students to have more control and learn how to pace when they are working in a center. They will be able to start the timer when they get to the center. They will understand that when time is up, they have to clean up and move to the next activity.
These learning resources and manipulatives will not only positively impact our small group learning, but it will also help us with organization, time management, and responsibility.
