My Project

We live in a small rural community in South Dakota. Our drama department is one of many activities our students can participate in. I want to use these tools to teach students how to use construction in their lives. I want them to be able to see a project through from start to finish, design to performance. So many people and kids think that drama only happens on stage, but the performance couldn't happen without the people backstage.

I want my students to walk away from our program with skills to help them for a lifetime.

Teamwork, construction, public speaking, organization, and time management are all important skills in everyday life. I want to not only put on quality performances but also have my students walk away from my program equipped with skills they can use beyond. The goal is to make sure the students are well-educated. We work on two plays a year and these students are brilliant. Most are involved in other activities and/or working outside of school, but we also have students who are not involved in anything else. These students are dependable and hard-working and encourage each other daily. The growth that I have seen not only as performers and crew members but also as people has inspired me.

Mrs. Gleason will only receive her materials if this project is fully funded by July 5.
