My Project

Our school is a charter school near Pittsburgh, PA, is home to 80 middle school boys. Our school’s mission is to increase the representation of young men of color in STEM-related colleges and careers. In order to do so, our students require the basic supplies necessary to succeed.

Our schools special education department, now titled the “Learning Exceptionalities Department (LED)” plays many roles in our school.

Half of our school’s population has an IEP; however, we believe that every child is an exceptional learner. We would like the opportunity to provide the basic school supplies needed for an equitable education, but also the items necessary to provide consistent positive reinforcement to our scholars. Our scholars work best when extrinsically motivated, so items such as Welch’s Fruit Snacks or Trail Mix are great, healthy positive reinforcers. Basic supplies such as pencils and the Amazon Basics two-pocket folders would help give students what they need to succeed.

Any donation would be greatly appreciated, and would be a huge step in providing equity for our students-each of which are Exceptional Learners!
