My Project

Lunchtime clubs in schools can help students at risk of or experiencing social isolation in the school setting. As a school counselor, I am always trying to help students connect with others and feel as though they belong. My goal is to create a safe, fun place during lunch where all are welcome. I want to help students interact with their peers in traditionally unstructured times of the school day by creating a game club during lunch.

Young people who have less social and communication skills often struggle to form natural and authentic social networks with other students at their school.

Research indicates that young people living with disability are at increased risk of social isolation and exclusion, especially in schools. It is the responsibility of schools to intervene early so that every student feels they genuinely belong to that community and have acquaintances and friends across their schooling years.

This Lunchtime game club will be utilized to assist students to be successful and valued members of the MVHS school community. It will help students at risk of experiencing social isolation when students express an interest in friendships but are having difficulty making friends, or when a student are bored at lunchtime and are seeking something to do.

Your donations will help create well-organized and fun lunchtime activities for students to interact with peers, including peers from different year levels, who have similar interests and passions. Lunchtime clubs are known to create benefits such as Improving social skills. Increased friendships.
