My Project

This year we have some students with light sensitivity. As we are a neighborhood school we welcome all abilities in our classroom. My students have noticed that a couple of their peers find the lighting and the walls to be very bright to look at. My walls are currently very green and yellow.

The students came up with a plan to take down the colors that are "too bright" and exchange them with pastel colors with bulletin board paper.

They also had the plan that we should always be talking about and representing all learners in our classroom. This brought up questions about different disabilities so we added books and resources to educate ourselves so that we can be the most inclusive to all our peers at school.

Since we are a neighborhood-inclusive school, our students interact with all different learners. Our school is presenting and teaching the community what a neighborhood school is and how learning looks different in the classrooms. My students want to take pictures of our inclusive change and be ready to share pictures and videos with the community at events and open houses. This will spread awareness in our community.
