Celebrate Black Teachers and Students

This project is part of the Black History Month celebration because it supports a Black teacher or a school where the majority of the students are Black.

My Project

These books are for a very special population of my students. They do not always look like other students, they do not act like other students, and they do not learn like other students. They stay in one classroom all day and come and see me often. They love hearing stories and learn a lot from picture books and first readers.

The very special students in grades 6-8 need a very special collection of books that they can learn from.

These include Picture books and Beginning readers.

These books are not traditionally purchased for a middle school library.

I will use these books to teach my special students non-fiction, digital citizenship, and fairy tales and folktales. We will read the stories, and discuss the stories and the new words they have not heard. We will also do an activity with the stories such as a collage, making a food, or having the items on hand for them to explore.
