Celebrate Black Teachers and Students

This project is part of the Black History Month celebration because it supports a Black teacher or a school where the majority of the students are Black.

My Project

I teach fifth grade at a small, Title I-funded, neighborhood school. One hundred percent of our students receive free breakfast and lunch. My students are eager to learn and love hands-on learning experiences. One hundred precent of my students are African American.

Our next unit in science is on understanding how structures and systems of organisms (to include the human body) perform functions necessary for life.

I would like to have my students make cells using yarn and Ziploc bags. The posters and books give my students visual representations of how the human body works.

My students deserve the best educational opportunities that I can give them, and I do my best to give those opportunism to them.
