Celebrate Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month

This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.

My Project

My students, as well as their families, have enjoyed the Clifford magazines for the past three school years. The students love to be able to show off to their families, bus drivers, and other students in the schoolwide community what they have learned. The students who have had older siblings in my program have asked for an extra book for them to use at home. My students can be with me for up to three years and my students struggle with staying engaged with the classroom library books, even though they are switched out to match our monthly themes.

My students love to show off what they have learned in class, even the non-verbal students love to show off what they have learned.

Many of my students are emerging speakers and have the eligibility of Autism, with Clifford's help they have been able to pick out the color of the box that is on the page or hold up their fingers to show off what number page we are on. They have begun to generalize the information and point out the same color in the classroom or on their clothing.

The students who have fine motor delays or sensory aversions work with our occupational therapist and they work together to develop the skills needed for them to be successful in kindergarten. The tracing activities and letter matching with a variety of writing tools allows them to work on fine motor and academic skills in a fun and engaging way.
