Celebrating Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month
This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because
it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.
My first grade students are sweet children who mostly come from low income families. They are eager to learn and love to explore. At times, they encounter situations in which they have overwhelming emotions. It is important that they have tools to help them learn about and deal with these feelings in a positive way.
Creating a Cozy Corner for students to access when they are in need of emotional support is a crucial aspect of fostering a safe and nurturing learning environment.
This calming space can serve as a sanctuary for students to retreat to when feeling overwhelmed, anxious, or distressed. By providing a comfortable and inviting area equipped with calming activities and resources such as sensory tools or comforting books, students can better regulate their emotions and find solace during challenging times.
When using the Cozy Corner, students will be able to utilize the safe space as needed without fear of judgment.
