This project is part of the Black History Month celebration because it supports a Black teacher or a school where the majority of the students are Black.
My Project
After losing a library space at the previous middle school, my students haven't had a concentrated location easily available to them where they are able to peruse books to read freely. The books that are available to students are woefully outdated and often are not representative of our student population.
These books will help me create a print-rich classroom that is both culturally responsive and relevant to my students' lived experiences.
These books will serve as the foundation of a new library for all of my students and newcommers to enjoy. By providing my scholars with engaging and appealing texts, I hope to bridge learning gaps through increased literacy.
As our word wall says, "Literacy builds bright futures!"
