Celebrate Black Teachers and Students

This project is part of the Black History Month celebration because it supports a Black teacher or a school where the majority of the students are Black.

My Project

Literacy is a basic human right. The materials that I have requested in this project will allow students in our functional education program to interact with reading and writing in new and exciting ways by accommodating for differing physical and cognitive abilities. Items like the Lakeshore Alphabet Sounds Teaching Tubs provide visual and tactile reinforcement when talking about letter sounds.

Reading and writing are foundational skills that should be taught to all students--even students with the most complex needs.

My students are seeking social connection and can increase their ability to communicate novel messages on their communication devices by increasing their literacy skills.

My students are the best! They show up everyday ready to learn and explore topics that interest them. Our classroom is full of smiles, hugs, and all kinds of amazing abilities! We appreciate people like you who help us continue to grow.
