Mrs. Stillman from Savannah MO is requesting flexible seating through DonorsChoose, the most trusted classroom funding site for teachers.
Help me give my students the Classroom Select Mesh Mid-Back chairs to sit comfortably in while they work on business.
This project is part of the Black History Month celebration because it supports a Black teacher or a school where the majority of the students are Black.
Savannah is a small closely-knitted community with a large student population from many socio-economic backgrounds. Because of our small community size, many amenities are unable to be purchased due to a limited budget. This project is important to our high school for many reasons. I want students to see that we can have nice classroom materials. I also want to model to students that accepting things the way they have always been done is not necessarily the best way to go about business. Lastly, I want to make sure my students have high-quality chairs so they can build good ergonomic habits to facilitate their future.
Right now, I have chairs that are outdated, neglected, and falling apart from previous use by students and teachers.
Many of the chairs I expect students to use on a daily basis would have been tossed years ago. With this project, I am trying to do the best for my students. I want them to know they are valued enough to purchase new chairs for my classroom.
In my classroom, it is expected for students to work to earn their grades. With this application, I am modeling to my students that I am also willing to work hard for them. I find it hypocritical to ask so much from my students and then not do everything in my power to work my hardest for them.
As mentioned earlier, our current classroom chairs are dilapidated and beyond repair. In addition to teaching skills for the business world, part of my curriculum is to set students up for success by teaching them good ergonomic habits. I want students to enjoy a full career in the business world.
I hope you are willing to assist our school in purchasing new chairs for my classroom.
