Celebrate Black Teachers and Students

This project is part of the Black History Month celebration because it supports a Black teacher or a school where the majority of the students are Black.

My Project

My students are intelligent and energetic- a BIG BALL OF FUN! All year, we are working on essential academic, social emotional, and motor skills, all while acquiring essential content knowledge! Our entire year is spent preparing them for kindergarten. All of this hard work deserves some PLAY! This play activity is the perfect way to get our littles to stay active and move their bodies!

It would be so fun to end our year with a color run party to encourage physical activity and practice gross motor skills such as running, jumping, and dancing!

This is also the perfect way to get the families involved. We will ask parents and older siblings to volunteer to throw the powder and engage with our students. We will set up a running path using cones at milestones. Each time students reach a milestone marker, they will be blasted with a new color, encouraging them to KEEP GOING! At the end, we will have a dance party with bubbles and more color! Each child will get a handful of color for a special countdown, and when we get to zero, everyone will throw their powder in the air for a color explosion!

That being said, I am requesting lots and lots of color powder to throw at- and with- the students. We need squirt bottles to make it easier to throw the colors and shower caps for volunteers and for students whose parents don't want the color in their hair. We also need a bubble machine to dispense the bubbles for the dance party.
