Celebrate Black Teachers and Students

This project is part of the Black History Month celebration because it supports a Black teacher or a school where the majority of the students are Black.

My Project

My students are amazing and work on a variety of projects throughout the school year. For example, we just finished a typography assignment where we learned letter style through the use of graffiti. They were overly excited about creating their names using this new skill. However, we are always limited in how we display our work because of the lack of strong, sturdy and relevant materials to support our artwork. This is why the foam boards, black paper (used for back framing), card stock paper, and glue sticks are needed to properly and ascetically create and display their work. Our classroom is also in need of an H-frame easel. When students are tasked to give whole class demonstrations of a particular skill, this item is beneficial as it allows the class to see in real time how that skill is executed. The only other items requested are the needles and needle threaders. One of our projects is quilt-making. Students learnered about stitches and how they are used to create patterns, balance and to seperate design ideas. So, instead of us using implied stitches with a marker, the needles will allow us to use actual stitches in our design. We thank you so much for supporting our class and we look forward to sharing our creations for the world to see.
