My Project
I am the school librarian. We seem to have plenty of books for kids who love picture books and chapter books for the students who are off and running with reading. We are lacking in the shorter books that first and second graders can read on their own. They love picture books but those aren't really meant for most 6-7 year old to be able to read on their own. They are at a loss sometimes in the library finding books they can actually read. Here are some goals for this project:
Increasing literacy levels among first and second graders.
Cultivating a love for reading and learning.
Providing access to diverse and engaging books.
Enhancing vocabulary and language skills.
Fostering a positive attitude towards education and school.
Promoting independent reading habits outside of the classroom.
Building a supportive and enriching learning environment.
Empowering students to explore their interests through books.
Strengthening community involvement and support for education.
Creating a foundation for lifelong learning and academic success.
