This project is part of the Black History Month celebration because it supports a Black teacher or a school where the majority of the students are Black.
My Project
Many feel teaching is difficult, but I'm honored to say that I work at a school that prides itself on its students. I am fortunate enough to work with very hard workers who truly push themselves to do their very best making teaching so much easier. However, they don't all have the supplies and materials they require to succeed in school. Due to constant budget cuts, and considering my school is in a poverty-stricken district my school is not always able to provide classrooms with the little extras, but I want my students to experience and have it all.
They lead, inspire and motivate each other to learn and do more, not only for themselves but also for those around them.
They deserve the tools it requires to succeed.
My objective is to make my students' school environment comfortable, stress-free, and their learning experiences creative and challenging to prepare them for the future. When students arrive in my classroom, I want them to feel that they are safe from the outside world, so they can focus on learning and simply be amazing students.
My students are constantly asking for snacks throughout the day. They sometimes arrive late to school and miss breakfast; for others, the breakfast is not enough to make it to our late afternoon lunch period. Hunger is a big problem in our school. Some children receive all their meals for the day at school. No one can learn or focus on an empty stomach.
This project includes a few breakfast items as well as snacks that my students love and like, variety pack cereal, goldfish, fruit snacks, cookies, veggie straws and crackers. With food readily on hand, the children can have a snack or small meal and be ready to get back to work.
