This project is part of the Black History Month celebration because it supports a Black teacher or a school where the majority of the students are Black.
My Project
We love using paint to explore the arts in our classroom! Whether it's learning about how to mix colors or making sculptures and then painting them, paint is an essential tool! The students love to discover new materials. We will work on paper mache wire sculptures in March and then paint them.
They are inspired by the Swiss artist Alberto Giacometti.
We will explore how to use wire to manipulate it into a human outline.
Then we will build upon our frame with newspaper taped in place and then a paper mache paste will be added and then dried. The students then will paint their sculptures to come alive.
