My Project

Each day in my preschool class we spend 60-90 minutes in learning centers. The time in these centers is designed to allow students the opportunity to learn through play. Students are not only learning academic concepts, but worldly knowledge as well. Students are able to learn about being a mother, how to cook and clean, or how to work in food service by playing in our dramatic play center. They are working on their fine motor skills by completing puzzles and such in our fine motor center. We have a block center, math center, art center, science center, etc.

Each of these centers allows students the opportunity to play with peers.

They don't even realize it, but with the help of my classroom aide and myself, we are enhancing their knowledge and skills while they play.

The materials in this project would allow more learning opportunities for this play time. Some of these materials would help with fine motor and cognitive skills, others with worldly/everyday life skills. My goal is to be able to teach my students their ABC's and 123's but also teach them the importance of job opportunities, motherhood, and exploration of other daily tasks.
