Celebrating Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month
This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because
it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.
Fiber arts can often be an overlooked style of art, but it is composed of skills that can be useful for a lifetime. Sewing, weaving, and other fiber arts are not only art forms, but skills that allow artist to create things we use in everyday life. With these materials, my students would be able to make potholders, felt pillows, bookmarks, woven art, and more.
My students love being explore new skills and art forms.
With these materials, I could ensure that my students have engaging lessons that allow them to flex their creativity and create unique works of art they feel proud of. My students would absolutely love using the yellow felt to create custom emoji pillows or learning how to use a loom and some bands to create a useful gift for someone - my mom still has the potholder I made her when I was in elementary school.
Most of my students do not have access to many art materials outside of school, so it is important to expose them to as much as I can while they are in my classroom. Thank you for anything you can give to help.
