Celebrate Black Teachers and Students

This project is part of the Black History Month celebration because it supports a Black teacher or a school where the majority of the students are Black.

My Project

My students all come from diverse backgrounds and want to read books from a variety of authors and illustrators. I also want them to see themselves in books that they read. They are also asking to fill in gaps from series that we have part of in the library already. They are also asking to get the newest books in the series. Many of these books are from their favorite authors.

My students need expanded horizons, and they need to see it in the literature they read.

Reading opens up their world through knowledge and imagination. Many of these books also have great social emotional themes to help students in our school deal with these feelings.
