Help me give my students items like snacks, room decorations, laminating pouches, storage baskets, containers, party favor toys, and clip boards a strong sense of community through costumes for house assemblies.
Have you ever read "Harry Potter" books? If so, then you understand how the house system works. At my school, students are sorted into different houses. We do these houses as a way to motivate students academically and behaviorally. However, we also do the house system so give our school a sense of community. We have four houses that are all named after a constellation. We chose these names because of our mascot being "Future Stars". Each house has an animal symbol and character traits that we embody.
We compete as teams throughout the year to earn house points and to celebrate the great things we are doing.
Monthly, we hold assemblies to celebrate how each house is doing but also to hear about our new behavior focus for the month.
In this project, I have supplies I would like to use for our house assemblies and competitions. Each student is given a house shirt to wear each Friday but I want to do even more! I want my class to be the leaders of each house! I want them to embody their characteristics and show what it means to be a member of their house, especially for the younger students at those assemblies. I have items such as boas and sunglasses in each house color for the assemblies. I also have added items that I would uses as prizes for our house competitions. Items like candy and mechanical pencils are cool for young children.
These fourth graders will grow to lead our school and eventually change the world. In my class, I have world changers.
