Having the opportunity to impact scholars who have dealt with trauma and challenges in the community is a true privilege. As an educator, I would love to provide a high-level learning environment that takes the scholar on a journey of not only creativity but one that appeals to the senses. I would love for the classroom to be welcoming, appropriate, and sensory friendly. My wish is to create a space that not only feels safe for our scholars that are healing, but one that encourages scholars to take pride in the environment and find a zest for education.

The group of scholars I have encountered have shown me that they can do anything with a little push and support. My plea is for a classroom that provides sensory and coping options along with alternative seating. I would love for the alternative seating to be placed in The Zen Zone to give students with trauma induced and emotional disorders to cope and soothe as needed.

The Zen Zone seating will provide choice which promotes engagement and individuality. Not to mention, flexible seating promotes community amongst peers.
