Celebrate Black Teachers and Students

This project is part of the Black History Month celebration because it supports a Black teacher or a school where the majority of the students are Black.

My Project

Fun day is a great way to reinforce positive student behavior. Students who engage in positive behaviors should be rewarded. Schools often focus on students who exhibit negative behaviors and forget the students who follow the school rules all year long. I want to reward those students with a Fun Day.

We are a PBIS (Positive Behavioral Interventions and Support) District.

We M.O.P.E.; We Meet our responsibilities; Offer Respect and Kindness; Proceed with Focus and Exercise Safety. The students earn Stingers by engaging in positive behaviors that they can redeem for rewards throughout the school year.

The culture of a school impacts the academic success of students. One of the goals of the PBIS Team for the 2023-2024 school year was to increase the number of students eligible for rewards. The students have responded and we have seen a 20% increase in the number of students engaging in positive behaviors.

We believe that these students have earned a great reward for demonstrating the behavior and values of the district. The PBIS Team would like to reward the with a day filled with fun activities. A Fun Day will motivate them to continue to engage in positive behaviors not only in school but throughout their lifetime.
