This project is part of the Black History Month celebration because it supports a Black teacher or a school where the majority of the students are Black.

My Project

I am asking for help to get a few language translators for my classroom. We have always had English language learners in our schools but have not always been able to help them completely. Over the past few years I have had more English language learners in my classes and have been trying to find the best way to help them learn. I have on many occasions used Google translate on my phone to help my students. When I cannot translate an assignment that I have created on my computer, I have showed my students how to use it to translate the assignment in front of them so that they can understand what they are supposed to do. This works, however I have more than one student that would need to utilize this device as well as more than one other language spoken. My goal is to help every child that comes into my classroom to be successful in their learning and I believe for those students that are just learning English as a second language, these would be very beneficial in doing just that. My students want to learn and are excited to be in school, but not understanding the work in front of them because it is not in their language may discourage them. They are learning English, but as a math teacher I want to know what they know about math and if being able to translate my work into their language so that they can be successful then I will do whatever I can for them.
