My Project

As a kindergarten teacher in a Title 1 school, I witness firsthand the transformative power of books on young minds. However, the sad reality is that many of our students cannot access books at home. The scarcity hinders their academic progress and deprives them of the joy and enrichment that reading can bring.

Summer break presents a critical juncture for these children.

Without access to books during this time, they face the risk of experiencing the dreaded "summer slide," where learning loss occurs. But there is hope. By providing our students with books to read over the summer, we can mitigate this slide and set them on a path toward continued growth and success.
