My Project

Hello! Even as a middle school math teacher, reading literacy is something that I care about. Additionally, I want students to find relatable stories about their lives as they navigate the emotionally turbulent times of middle school.

Middle school can be like a rollercoaster of awkwardness, and I want to bring in books that'll make our students go, "Whoa, that's SO me!"

With your support, we'll not only be spreading joy and laughter but also building a community where EVERY student feels heard and understood. We are more than halfway through our school year and I continue to strive to help my 6th graders find their superpowers of self-expression and confidence. One of the books in this project is called "Awkward" by Svetlana Chmakova. This book is like the ultimate guide to surviving middle school, filled with hilarious moments, relatable characters, and a whole lot of heart.

Additionally, this project will support bringing materials to our classroom to push our classroom through spring break, standardized testing, and finally the end of the school year. This project will not only revitalize their confidence in seeing seen through books but reaching academic goals through accessible new classroom materials.
