Celebrating Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month
This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because
it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.
Learning a language takes a lot of effort. I want to provide support for all my students, including my newcomers, to learn and reinforce class content and skills through learning games. Games assist students in making and maintaining the effort required for learning.
Games are great educational tools because they engage and motivate students in learning fun, while helping students increase vocabulary and helping build literacy skills.
Playing games will also help students to develop problem-solving skills, build self-confidence, strengthen relationships, and develop creativity while having fun. Games are learning in disguise, and they can increase student motivation, cooperation, and boost academic achievement.
Learning games and activities such as Guesstures Charades Game, Hello Kitty Loteria (Spanish), Skillmatics Guess in 10 Foods Around the World, Cranium Interactive Game, and a mini karaoke machine are wonderful tools for my students to show, tell, and sing what they know and great for teaching life skills as well. Additionally, printable games and resources purchased with the Teachers Pay Teachers gift card will help my newcomers gain valuable oral skills to better communicate with their peers and integrate themselves into their new home community.
