My Project

I love to have my students demonstrate their knowledge of math concepts with hands-on projects. For instance, my Geometry students learn about trig ratios and then make clinometers and head outside to find the height and distance of things that are too far away or too tall to measure.

The supplies will also be used to make 3-D maps that incorporate geometry vocabulary such as alternate interior angles.

The maps will also be used to show measuring with a protractor as students plan the water pipes that would run along the roads of their towns.

My students have been completing projects with the glue sticks that I have remaining, which are running out and also with little kid scissors. They get frustrated because, as high schoolers, the scissors are hard for them to use since they are so little.
