This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.

My Project

My fourth grade students are busy getting ready for their important state tests in reading, writing, and math. They are hard workers and deserve to have new basic materials to make the learning process fun and educational.

I am requesting a class set of dry erase paddles to use during whole group test preparation lessons to increase student engagement.

Students will hold up these spherical dry erase boards to show me their responses during our review of the online test practice websites. They will also use these boards during small group instruction to show me what they know, while writing with the new ultra-fine tipped EXPO markers. These markers are much thinner than standard dry erase markers and will allow students to show more detailed answers for long division problems or when justifying an answer using text evidence.

We are fortunate to have received a generous donation of regular #2 pencils from a kind donor during a previously funded project, so we are very well-stocked with pencils. However, I am requesting several packs of mechanical pencils to use as incentives because my students love to use mechanical pencils (especially the large, brightly-colored chunky ones) and would be thrilled to receive one as a reward for their hard work preparing for high-stakes testing.

Finally, I am requesting 5 Cyber Acoustic Headphones because my students will need to have working headphones for their state tests. This is a high quality brand. I already have a class set from a previously funded project, but since my class size has become so large, we need five additional headphones to ensure that everyone has their own set for the test.
